Racing can be a very unpredictable game and sometimes you get a surprise and from the day Mr Pago was broken in he has just sailed through his early racing life with minimal fuss until one morning when put under pressure he galloped like a horse who was going places and going places he has and very very fast indeed.
"It was the fortnight before he had his frist start he galloped with an open class horse and held his own and I called Manny to let him know to find a trial which at the time wasn't available so with a Moe meeting coming up we took the punt to run him first up without a trial on his home track and it payed dividends. He was so impressive through the line and he just done it so easy which gave us the confidance to take him to Adelaide where he delivered another knock out blow and won in very good style which really in hindsight was his first up run based on the fact Moe was a bonus so to train a winner for Hillside Racing's Peter Arvanitis and his close colleagues was such a big thrill and to have this horse unbeaten after 2 starts certainly gives us heart there is better things to come for the son of Magnus which was bought cheaply by the boys for a bit of fun" states Peter Gelagotis
Mr Pago was spelled immediately with a view to bring him back for the spring and based on the efforts of the promising 2yo there appears more great times ahead for the syndicate and this little rocket by Magnus they call "Pago" .
