EXCITING Myboycharlie filly Little Fighter will head into the $50,000 QTIS Bruce McLachlan 2YO (1200m) on the Sunshine Coast following an impressive breakthrough win at only her second start.
After debuting with a solid third at Ipswich last month, she ran right up to the promise she'd shown in track work to bolt in by a big space at Kilcoy on Saturday, June 14.
It might have only been a non-TAB meeting but she couldn't have been more impressive in a lucrative race worth $20,000 to the winner.
Ridden by apprentice Tiffani Brooker, the Darby Racing-syndicated youngster romped in by eight lengths as a $4 chance in a QTIS 2YO Fillies Maiden (1200m)
"It was a nice race to win as she picked up a Brisbane Bloodstock bonus,'' said trainer Stuart Kendrick.
"She was purchased at the Brisbane Bloodstock sales last year and Scott Darby then syndicated her after seeing her work,'' he said.
"She will start next week in the Bruce McLachlan."
The win was part of a double at different tracks for Kendrick Racing on June 14.
The stable also won with Menacing in the last race at the Sunshine Coast night meeting.
Ridden by Ashley Butler, Menacing ($2.50) was far too strong for his rivals, coasting home to win by nearly four lengths on a heavy (8) track in a Class 1 (1200m).
It was a well-deserved win for the three-year-old Monashee Mountain colt which had been placed at his past three starts on the track.
"Menacing will head to a QTIS race in town on July 5," said Kendrick.
